Structural foundation repairs salvage older home on view property
Alpine Engineering provided construction management, design and engineering services for this 100-year-old single-family residence in Bellingham. The work we did helped mitigate significant foundation settlement issues, increase outdoor living spaces and modernize interior spaces.
Existing conditions included previous additions, which were built on unconsolidated fill on sloping property. Foundation issues had caused the three-level home to have sloped floors, out of level window openings, and large cracks in the existing foundation — problems that were addressed via engineering and the installation of an underpin pile system.
